FLASH Workshop 2024: The Role of Oxygen in FLASH Radiation Therapy

The FLASH Workshop 2024 in Heidelberg at the German Cancer Research Center (DKFZ) brings together medical physicists, biologists, clinicians and scientists to discuss the impact of oxygen in FLASH radiotherapy (FLASH-RT). Oxygen plays a vital role in radiation therapy, since it's the most well-known radiation sensitizer. Increased tissue oxygen has been shown to reduce the protective nature of FLASH in healthy tissue. The FLASH workshop will allow for an open discussion of the ideas of how oxygen impacts FLASH-RT. Talks by our invited speakers will be supplemented by talks of attendees. Therefore, we are really looking forward to your abstract if you want to actively participate in the workshop.
The workshop is organized by DKFZ under the auspices of the Heidelberg Institute for Radiation Oncology (HIRO).

Abstracts
As indicated on the program there are several sessions dedicated to presentations of attendees. Presentations will be selected by the scientific committee based on abstracts. Therefore, we encourage everyone to submit an abstract to present your scientific work during the workshop. We are also pleased that there will be a Special Issue of the European Journal of Medical Physics with accepted abstracts to be published after the workshop. Please note: accepted abstracts undergo a second separate review process for the special issue.
